Smoking at the Beaches Banned

The fish hate cigarette butts.

Since February 1st, 2018 (yeah, I know I’m a bit late with this one), smoking and littering of cigarette butts and packets across most tourist beaches around Thailand has been banned. Violators may face up to 100,000 (!) baht fines, one year in jail, or both.

Smokers are strongly advised to use the designated smoking areas on the beaches. Currently, smoking is banned on 24 beaches, of which Hua Hin Beach and Khao Takiab Beach are located in Hua Hin, and Cha-am beach near. More beaches will be added to the list in the future, so it’s better to not smoke on any beach from now on. Unless the 100k fine is no biggie for you, of course.
